Hal Murray
Hal Murray was born, raised and began his radio career right here in Coos Bay. Back in 1969 he first went on the air at KYNG AM, a Top 40 station. Over the years he's worn a variety of hats at other local stations as well as stations in Medford and Seattle. His emergence into the world of Smooth Jazz began when he joined KWJZ in Portland, Oregon, a mere 6 months after the station signed on in 1994. He also worked at The Oasis (KOAI) in Dallas, Texas.
In 2001, Hal returned to Oregon's Bay Area and was very instrumental in helping us to get the Smooth Jazz format of 105.9 The Wave on the air. Seven years later, he slipped into the midday slot on the station as if he'd been there the whole time. Hal is truly a walking wikipedia on Smooth Jazz and his experience and love of the format is evident.
He and his wife, Laurie, live in North Bend and love to walk, ride bikes and head to the beach in their spare time.

Leah Houghton
Leah Houghton has lived here in the Bay Area since 1979. She’s been singing since the age of 3 and has always felt a connection with the music from the Golden Age of Radio. Growing up, she would love to watch musicals with her family and they would all sing the classics together at family reunions. As a teen she became involved in theater and Little Ole Opry On The Bay, and when she was 17, Leah had already landed her dream role as Dorothy in a local production of “The Wizard of Oz”, filling the ruby red slippers of her favorite vocalist from the genre, Judy Garland.
One of Leah’s other dreams, hosting a radio show that featured music from the 40’s, was realized on February 7th, 2004 when she began one of the most popular features on The Wave, “Sentimental Journey”, which airs from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM every Saturday morning.
When she’s not on the radio, Leah works at a local medical clinic and she enjoys spending time with family, singing worship at church, long walks, snowboarding, and camping trips with her niece and nephew.
